Global food security is threatened by a wide range of factors, including severe weather, commodity prices, and political instability. Work to address these disruptions is increasingly important given the global nature of our food supply. This webinar will feature speakers from Cargill and the World Food Programme and highlight the work of these organizations to prepare for and respond to food security disruptions.

The Food Protection and Defense Institute was honored to host Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins on August 30th, 2016 for a day of learning and collaborative thinking around food protection and defense and identifying places where our work would overlap. Ambassador Jenkins is the Department of State’s Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs in the Bureau of International Security and nonproliferation. She was nominated by President Obama in April 2009 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in June 2009.
Wolfgang Herbinger, Country Director for the World Food Programme, visited with leadership and staff of the Food Protection and Defense Institute to learn more about the WFP, the supply chain and logistics of their work and Wolfgang’s many experiences in the field.
Associate Director Jennifer van de Ligt was invited to present at the International Food Safety Science and Technology Development Symposium in Beijing, China as well as The 3rd International Symposium on Food and Drug Safety Emergency Response in Seoul, South Korea during the last week of August.
