Abstract:
This study focuses on the role of information exchange and communication among food companies as a key element of supply chain resiliency to catastrophic incidents. Its goal is to identify optimum levels of investments needed to improve information exchange and communication among supply chain partners and to compare those best practices with actual current practices in the food industry. The analysis is based on the use of an analytical/statistical model incorporating data on the probability of catastrophic events derived from the Statistical Risk Metrics project, as well as data on actual industry practices derived from NCFPD's supply chain benchmarking surveys.
