Abstract:
The objectives of the proposed research are to identify, and to determine how to mitigate, risks in the freight transportation components of international food supply chains, with the intent of enabling significant improvement in food supply chain security, preparedness, and resiliency. Focusing initially on grain export supply chains, the envisioned outcomes of the research are methodologies and information to enable freight transportation risk and resiliency assessments, and more resilient supply chains for these products, where resilience refers to the ability to quickly identify, respond to, and recover from events that create major disruptions to supply chain operations.
