The project proposes to develop a taxonomy model of the foodborne event. By using an expert panel process, the knowledge acquired in the initial funding years (from related literatures, numerous case studies, and the ten best practices), will be employed to define the specific and pivotal characteristics of a foodborne event. This classification system will allow researchers and practitioners to more fully understand the range of event types and their associated impacts. This taxonomy will also be useful in the development of planning scenarios and in exercises and drills.
