Ted Steinmann is an IT Manager at the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI). He directs projects and programs for both new development initiatives and existing operational activities. He also manages IT staff, sponsors, vendors, and University resources and relationships, and develops strategy for a diverse portfolio of research driven products. Mr. Steinmann possesses a breadth of IT expertise that spans from user centric design approaches to data modeling and process engineering. He is also experienced in deploying to cloud infrastructure and assessing risk, categorizing information systems, and applying security controls. He has contributed to the development of enterprise-wide information systems, novel research products, data analysis and business intelligence driven efforts.

Prior to joining FPDI, Mr. Steinmann filled Product Management, Lead Development, and Dev Ops roles for a private-sector software development company. He received a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) in Information Systems and a BBA in Management from the University of North Dakota and will graduate with a Masters of Science in the Management of Technology (MOT) from the University of Minnesota in May of 2018. Along with business courses taught by Carlson School of Management professors, the MOT program provides a foundation in strategic technology analysis, technology foresight and forecasting, and the management of intellectual property. Mr. Steinmann’s studies have focused on developing effective data science infrastructure and personnel.
