Intentional Adulteration Assessment Tool (IAAT)

ABOUT THE PROJECT/ TOOL

The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) final rule titled Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration (IA) was published on May 27, 2016. On behalf of the DHS S&T Chemical Security and Analysis Center (CSAC) and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) is transitioning to the food processing industry via the FoodSHIELD website a desk-top risk analysis tool. The tool will aid the conduct of the required Intentional Adulteration (IA) Rule Vulnerability Assessment for chemical and biological threats to food products. The tool builds upon resources and risk estimates developed through a Chemical Securities Analysis Center (CSAC) and ADM Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA).
