The Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) developed a facility-based educational tool addressing key food defense components of the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and subsequent final rules.

The Food Defense Readiness Assessment 2.0 will help you understand the requirements within FSMA for preventing Intentional Adulteration (IA) and Economically Motivated Adulteration (EMA):

  • Key food defense activities required by and supportive of the Preventive Controls for Human Foods and Intentional Adulteration rule will be presented
  • As you learn about FDA food defense regulatory requirements and best practices, you will assess your current facility practices to understand your facility’s compliance readiness
  • Following the assessment, you will receive a Readiness Report your facility’s readiness score for four strategic food defense areas: EMA, IA Mitigation Strategies, Management and Operation, and Industry/Government Cooperation
  • With the readiness score for each of the four strategic areas, a list of suggested next steps will be presented along with recommended additional informational resources
